How often should I get my house windows cleaned?
Most residential clients require their windows cleaned every 3 – 6 months. However, this can vary depending on many factors, such as traffic pollution, if the house is near the beach and is affected by salt spray, or if there are a lot of little children or pets putting dirty hands or paws on the glass, etc. We can set you up for a reminder on a schedule that suits you
How much does window cleaning cost?
The cost for window cleaning single storey houses generally starts from $150. However, it depends on the quantity and difficulty of access to the windows. Given that few jobs are the same, our window cleaners are prepared to visit the job in person free of charge to give you a competitive quote – obligation free.
We are also able to often quote via information available online from Google Streetview, Google Earth, real estate listings, etc. You can also email us photos to help prepare the quote. We will assess available information and if we require more information, we will contact you.
How do you accept payment?
EFTPOS is preferred method of payment but we also accept cash and bank transfer. Payment must be made on the day unless prior arrangements are made
Can you give me a Tax Invoice?
Of course! At completion of the job, we will email this to you
What type of window cleaning do you do?
We clean Residential, Commercial, Strata, Industrial and Government building windows – inside and out. We can access just about any windows from ground floor up to 4 storeys high, and gutters up to 2 storeys high.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We can often carry out the job within the same week of your enquiry. If you’re in a rush, it may be possible to arrange to have the job done in the same visit as the quote. To speed things up, email us the address with a good description of the job and if possible, a few photos.
What do you include in the “Window Cleaning Quote”?
Obviously, we clean the glass. We also wipe the frames and clean any fly screens (or fly wires). If there are a few little paint spots or hard marks, we will remove them. However, where there is a lot of scraping and after renovation grime to remove, there will be additional charges. Please make sure to mention anything like that.
If you need the window tracks (the bottom part of the window frame that a sliding window moves across) cleaned, please mention this before we give the quote.
How can you reach the outsides of my high windows?
Firstly, some windows can be accessed from inside. We also use poles and tall ladders where possible.
For windows above 2 to 3 stories and below 5 that can’t be accessed from inside, we have a long water-fed pole with pure water system which delivers sparkling results to glass and the surrounds. This amazing technology can reach up to 50 feet, or 15 meters high!
It’s safe to use – no chemicals and the worker stands safely on the ground.
Do the window cleaners have all the necessary insurance cover?
Yes. We are covered by $10 million Public Liability insurance and all workers are also covered by Workers Compensation Insurance. We are happy to forward a copy of the Certificates of Currency on request.
Can you prepare Safe Work Method Statements?
Yes. We can provide you with a SWMS once a job has been confirmed. Please let us know in advance if this will be required.
What are you doing to reduce your carbon footprint?
Gibbo’s Window Cleaning cares for the environment and is leading the industry in environmentally friendly work practice. Some steps already in place are:
- Reducing car travel by using the internet and telephone wherever possible for quotes
- Invoices and quotes are electronic
- Organising work in efficient routes to save on travel
- Avoiding waste by being careful with the storage and use of all tools and detergents
- Having machines serviced regularly to run at optimum levels
- Disposing of rubbish legally
- Detergent is never tipped down the drain and allowed to enter the water system
- We are sparing with water usage and respect any water restrictions imposed by authorities
- Where possible, the towels and rags we use are recycled.
Do you do builders cleans?
This is a service was don’t offer. It is a specialised area of window cleaning and we prefer to leave this to companies that do it all day, every day.
Do you still come if it is raining?
We normally continue working if it is raining lightly. However, if we consider the weather dangerous for work, ie. stormy and wild winds, then we would re-schedule.
But doesn’t rain make the windows dirty?
Not really. The three main reasons windows become dirty are:
- Pollen & Dust/Pollution
- Insect droppings
- Finger prints
If these are present on the glass when it rains, the residue in the rain attaches itself to the dirt and often makes the windows look worse. So if the windows have recently been cleaned, then the rain will simply run off the clean glass and the windows continue to remain clean. If there is dirt/dust on walls above the windows and the rain hits this, it can then land on the windows. Often we find the eves above the windows will stop rain doing this.
Do you clean fly screens?
Yes we do, this is part of our premium package. Keeping fly screens (also called fly wire or insect screens) clean helps to keep the windows clean too. Please mention if you have security screens at your place, as this may need to be cleaned differently.
What if I’m not happy with the job?
We aim to go above and beyond your expectations on every job we do. If you are not 100% satisfied, please bring it to the attention of the window cleaner while they are there, and they’ll be happy to do whatever it takes (within reason) to remedy the job. We get job satisfaction from getting sparkling results and our goal is to keep our clients coming back to us.
How do you clean windows?
We use both the traditional method (soapy water applied with a washer and removed with a squeegee) and pure water system/waterfed pole. We choose this most appropriate method for each situation. The water fed pole system means we are often able to clean building up to 4 storeys from the ground. This improves safety for staff and can often reach windows that would be difficult from a ladder
